This painting was a tough one. It was done from a photo Karin Jurick sends out for her Different Strokes blog. It was a challange because of the perspective of looking down on the people. Also, for some reason, I just had the hardest time getting the spotlight to be bright enough. I changed the values many times. Trial and error taught me alot in this exercize!

I have wanted to paint this little painting for quite awhile and I finally did it! I took this picture in Ravelo, Italy about 3 years ago. Oh, to be there again!

Summertime

Summertime is a painting I did last May at a workshop at Tiger, Georgia. Our instructor was Ann Templeton. She was a wonderful artist/instructor. I would recommend going to a workshop she teaches because no matter how much you think you know, she will always teach you something new! Her experience shows in all her paintings and her love of what she is doing!

After about a 4 month sabatical from painting because of shoulder surgury, I am painting again. This
is my first of a new me! Shoulder is really doing good and I have a new hope for painting out of the box. Wish me luck and lots more to come.

The Stone Bridge

This painting is really darker than it appears, but it seems to be my only picture. I would really like to do this same painting with people in it. The water had dried up , so I just put in the pine straw.

Camelia

This is a small painting I did for a wedding gift. I made the mistake of using the natural linen canvas and it takes alot not to mess it up. Also, it is sorta shiny, so it didn't photograph well.

This is my latest painting for Different Strokes submittings. I really enjoyed this, but it was really hard getting the perspective right. It is 24 x 30 so it took my quite awhile to to draw and paint!

Jefferson Memorial

This has been a fun assignment for inauguration week, but much harder than it looks. It is 8 X 10 on canvas. I have a new camera and learning how to take accurate pictures is a true art! I repainted on this painting 3 times after I took the picture because it showed so many mistakes in the picture.

"Shelter in Mykonos"

In September of 2008, I was walking along the road on a very hot Greek Island and found this little geranium thriving under cover from the very hot sun. There was not alot of lush flowers because of the heat, so I was happy to see this little geranium doing so well!

Betsy's Figs

This is a 6" x 6" painting I did for a very dear friend. Her grandmother had a fig tree and Betsy always loved her figs! It is a palette knife painting.

New York Groceries

What fun I had doing this painting in a workshop in NYC. Sarah Lamb was my teacher and I enjoyed it and loved getting all her expert advise. Sarah just had a wonderful show at Spanierman Gallery in NY. Her paintings are amazing! You ahould check them out on Spanierman's website.
